Crathes Castle, Garden & Estate

Sixteenth-century Crathes Castle, seat of the ancient family of Burnett of Leys, is one of the finest specimens of Scottish baronial architecture, boasting remarkable late 16thC painted ceilings. The grounds are unrivalled for beauty on Deeside and include a world famous walled garden extending to 3.75 acres with a fine collection of plants worth of a visit at any time of year. The topiary of the yew hedges is distinctive and dates from the early 18thC. Visitor centre, restaurant, plant sales, ranger service, trails, playground and picnic area.
